Here’re the harsh realities of life for a young man we’ll call Davon. Davon probably doesn’t look too unusual to you. Could be one of your neighbor’s kids. Or a grandchild maybe. But there’s one big difference – Davon is homeless. His mother, who is a Veteran struggling with an opioid addiction, lives in our shelter, while Davon is shuffled around, staying with various family members.

Dear NVHOH Friend and Supporter,
New Vision House of Hope, Inc. (NVHOH) needs your assistance right now to help families like Davon’s become re-unified with affordable, permanent housing and supportive services. NVHOH is one of Baltimore’s best kept secrets. Founded by Charles A. Culver, Sr. in 2003, NVHOH has helped change the lives of more than 30,000 men and women (both directly and indirectly). Committed to serving the homeless, those struggling with substance use disorders, Veterans, and people living with HIV/AIDS, our team of professionals work tirelessly to help those in need.

NVHOH is committed to providing clients and families with a safe place to heal and recover, and an opportunity to build a better life. However, with being a grant dependent organization, we need your help to better help those in need, because we turn away no one. As the demand for our services grows, our need for funding also grows. Therefore, we are inviting you to join us on this worthwhile journey by becoming a sponsor and guest at our 2017 Black-Tie Gala. Your support will allow us to reach more, help more and continue to change lives of many in Baltimore City!

This year, NVHOH is celebrating its 14th year of service by hosting a Black-Tie Gala on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Pikesville, MD. Our theme “Hopes, Dreams, and a New Vision” honors the company’s founder who realized many years ago that for a person to move beyond homelessness, they must first have a dream and someone to believe in them. In addition, the Black-Tie Gala, besides adding vital revenue to the NVHOH budget, will provide a wonderful recognition event for our founder, Charles A. Culver, Sr. and other community leaders who share in our mission to end homelessness in Baltimore.

We are humbled and proud of the many glowing letters of appreciation and e-mails Mr. Culver receives from former clients about the staff and volunteers here at NVHOH. Equal to our first-rate staff are quality services that makes NVHOH stand out beyond a level of excellence. Following are a few of our premiere services and programs we offer:

  • The Transitional Housing and Shelter Programs together house more than 100 people per night, 365 days a year. The Transitional Housing program, the agency’s cornerstone, provides comprehensive case management, substance abuse treatment, mental health referrals, job referrals, services for those living with HIV/AIDS, permanent housing assistance, and much more. In partnership with Baltimore Homeless Services, the Shelter Program provides a safe and clean place for 60 women to sleep each night.
  • The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program is a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs-funded program that serves homeless Veterans, and Veterans and their families at-risk of becoming homeless. The program offers intensive case management, rental assistance, utility assistance, childcare assistance, transportation, housing placement, and more.

We think you will agree that NVHOH is a vital contributor to our community. Not just because it provides homeless and supportive services, but because it stands as a model of kindness, concern, and caring for those in need.

To support the NVHOH 2017 Black-Tie Gala, simply call our main office at 410-466-8558 or specify your level of sponsorship and mail your payment to the NVHOH 2017 Black-Tie Gala, 200 East Lexington Street, Suite 605, Baltimore, MD 21202. We want to accommodate all levels of interest and are making several levels of involvement available to you, which are detailed in the attached Sponsorship Form. All donations are tax deductible and will be acknowledged in the NVHOH Black-Tie Gala souvenir program booklet, our social media platforms, and our website.
